Original Painting: 51"w x 44"h, Charcoal and Oil Paint on Canvas
The Great American Barbecue (July 4th) is about the irony in Black peoples' celebration of the 4th of July. The work is satirical, showing a Black family having a cookout and completely ignoring the American flag waving in the background, acknowledging that their day of freedom is a different one. However, we don't turn down a day to celebrate and be in community.
