This piece is meant to show the diversity in Afro-Latinx identities while referencing my personal culture as an African-American and Puerto Rican woman. In the background are subtle drawings of flor de magas, the official flower of Puerto Rico. In addition, each earring is a different West African Adinkra symbol with a distinct meaning. The original piece is colored pencil on wood.
